SmartRewards Program is a Loyalty Rewards Program structured as a B2B business – in participation with retailers focusing on: customer’s personal brand experience (CX), improving customers visit ratio, customer base development and customer retainment – benefitting participating customers and retailers.

The SmartRewards concept enables a personalized Loyalty Rewards Program to retailers – empower them the structuring and management of their own rewards benefits to their own loyal customers.

The program is owned, run and administered by SmartRewards.

Our Operation

  • The software – program. A robust Software Application integrated with the POS system at the Forecourt and Convenience Store — processing rewards in online real-time. With our back-end application we can give a detailed statement of each Member’s transactions / spending patterns.
  • The system. The Application is swift and processes transactions in less than 5 seconds – so there is no time lag or situation where Members must wait to process their rewards transactions.
  • Members earn and redeem rewards in the respective registered retail businesses.

Our Terms and Conditions

  • By participating in the program, the retailers / rewards members agree to be bound by the Terms as set out herein.
  • Earn and redeem Cash Back Rewards at the F/c’s and C/s’s of the respective retailers where your rewards card is registered.
  • Products to earn rewards on / products on which rewards can be redeemed are determined by the respective retailers.
  • Rewards are set by the respective retailers.
  • Payment cards accepted are determined by the retailers.
  • Cash Account Holder – customers to be pre-authorized by the retailer for partaking in the rewards program.  
  • Available rewards balances can be viewed on the retailer’s POS Slip or on the Member’s digital profile on a smart phone. 
  • Rewards are redeemable immediately once a member is registered on the SmartRewards system. 
  • Members earn and redeem rewards for any Eligible Product at SmartRewards registered retailers in accordance with the rules and provisions set out in these terms incorporated the Cash Back Rewards rules (applying at the respective registered retailers).
  • SmartRewards reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion (in consultation with the registered retailers) to amend the TERMS of the Program without prior notification to the Members. Updates to the terms will be communicated to card holders via the SMS. The Members shall have no recourse against SmartRewards or registered retailers for such change of the Terms. SmartRewards can enforce any changes that may result in a decrease or total loss of the amount or value or expiration of Rewards at any given time now or in the future. This would not apply to the balance of Rewards earned prior to any such change. Continued use of the SmartRewards (retailer branded) card constitutes acceptance of the amended terms. In the event of the program termination, cash rewards will remain valid for 60 calendar days from the termination date.
  • Members are responsible for being knowledgeable of the Terms and any changes thereto and the Program. The most current version of these Terms will be available on the website www.SmartRewards.co.za or at participating retailers.
  • Any inquiry or concerns in relation to the Program, Rewards or Terms can be communicated to the respective retailers.
  • Members may opt out of the SmartRewards program at any time by cancelling at the respective retailers.
  • SmartRewards may reserve the right to deny, suspend or terminate membership at its own discretion, with or without notice. Membership may also be cancelled, and rewards are forfeited, in cases of abuse or fraudulent activity.
  • Manually cash deposits into a SmartRewards account (card) cannot be done as SmartRewards is not FAIS- accredited.
  • Membership is open to all – natural persons 18 years and older and live in South Africa.
  • Client information required: Name; Surname; ID; Cell number.
  • Members can register only 1 card per Member. Members may register (3) vehicles per card.
  • Cash Back Rewards are processed immediately after registration.
  • Cash Back Rewards earned are based on a Set of Rules determined by the retailer. It is electronically credited to the Member’s account on the SmartRewards Program. Cash Back Rewards are instantly accessible (once the Member is registered) with the SmartRewards Program for redemption (spending) exclusively at the respective retailer.
  • The back-end application can give a detailed statement of each Member’s rewards account.
  • Lost and stolen cards – it remains the responsibility of the Member to report and deactivate the card. It can be done at the retailer. A new card is issued (new card issue cost is R20.00) with the benefits of the lost / damaged card transferred to the new card.
  • Retailer’s approval will be required for staff participation in the program.
  • Retailers staff may not accept Cash Back Rewards on behalf of customers.
  • Neither SmartRewards nor the retailer shall be held liable to Members or any other person for the loss caused by a transaction or software, hardware and hosting contracts.
  • SmartRewards or the retailer are subject to any provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (as amended) and applicable provisions shall be deemed to be incorporated by reference therein.
  •  All Members’ personal information is stored in a secured manner as per POPI act regulations. Data will be used exclusively in connection with the requested services.
